Dr. Dougherty is a co-founder of Arcus Ventures. Before starting Arcus Ventures in 2007, Dr. Dougherty was the President of The Arcus Group, a consulting company that provided due diligence and strategic guidance for financial service and pharma/biotech clients, which he co-founded in 2001. Dr. Dougherty also became a venture partner of Cross Atlantic Partners, a healthcare and biotechnology venture capital fund based in New York City, in 2003. Prior to co-founding The Arcus Group, Dr. Dougherty was the Deputy Physician-in Chief for Clinical Affairs at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 1997 through 2001, with responsibility for the oversight of clinical programs and patient care operations. Dr. Dougherty led efforts responsible for initiating a major clinical program reorganization at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, incorporating Disease Management and Unitization concepts, and held a major role in leveraging computer-based technology for clinical and research purposes. His primary research focus included GI solid tumors, delivery system analysis and information technology applications. Dr. Dougherty also served as Associate Program Director of Internal Medicine for the Cornell Cooperating Hospitals, as well as Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He was the Founding Editor-in-Chief for CancerSmart, the Memorial Sloan-Kettering subscription publication for the general public that was sold to Scientific American in 1997. Dr. Dougherty received his B.S. in Biology from Georgetown University, his M.D. from the Hershey School of Medicine at Pennsylvania State University and his M.B.A. from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
