Established in 2003, MicroVest seeks to invest capital in under-banked markets and provide access to financial services for rising middle-class communities. The firm manages a family of funds that invest in responsible microfinance and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) finance institutions serving unbanked and underbanked microentrepreneurs and small businesses in emerging markets. MicroVest is owned by three nonprofit institutions, CARE, MEDA, and the Cordes Foundation, and has disbursed over $1 billion to over 200 microfinance and SME finance institutions in more than 60 countries.
