HCMCULAW was established in 1996 and was initially part of the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Vietnam National University. However, in 2000, it became an independent institution. It is the first Vietnamese legal training school to collaborate with a foreign university for a master's degree program, partnering with the University of the West of England in Bristol, England. Overall, HCMCULAW is a prominent legal education institution in Vietnam.
