Prior to Georgian Partners, John spent 11 years at VRG Capital where he was responsible for winning and accelerating a broad range of investments through due diligence, deal structuring, fundraising, M&A, operations support, and post-investment strategic support. John received a BA at Queen’s University and a degree in computer science from the University of Calgary. He received his Certified Financial Analyst designation in 1998 and is also on the Board of the Canadian Venture Capital Association.

Simon Chong is one of our Managing Partners and Co-Founders. He’s involved in fundraising, deal sourcing and deal portfolio management. Having spent his career in sales management, marketing and operations, Simon applies his strong operating background to helping our portfolio companies. He’s focused on designing growth strategies and helping companies develop and execute their go-to-market approach, with a particular focus on sales. Prior to Georgian Partners, Simon was Worldwide Director of Sales, Information Solutions within the IBM Software Group, via the acquisition of DWL Inc., in 2005. In that role, Simon tripled DWL software revenue — and doubled overall revenue — in his first year and became responsible for the revenue of four acquired enterprise software companies. At DWL, Simon was the Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, where he was responsible for global field operations and achieving revenue leadership in the master data management (MDM) space. Previous to that, he worked in a variety of business analyst and sales roles. Simon holds an MBA and Postgraduate Diploma in business from Henley Management School in the United Kingdom.
