Prem Pavoor

Prem is a Managing Director at FIL Capital Advisors (India) Private Limited, where he focuses on sectors that include life sciences, healthcare, speciality chemicals and agriculture. Prem brings a cumulative 14 years of experience in management consulting, engineering consulting and technology research, both in the United States and in India. Most recently, Prem was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company’s Pharmaceutical and Medical Products Practice in New Jersey, where he advised pharmaceutical/biotech, consumer goods and private equity clients on areas that included R&D, business development, post-merger integrations and manufacturing. Prior to McKinsey, Prem served as an engineering consultant to the Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation in Japan and to a drug delivery company, Alkermes, Inc., in Boston, on design and scale-up of manufacturing processes. Prem’s doctoral thesis work, performed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Boston), focused on enhancing the performance of medical implants. The work is the subject of several international peer-reviewed publications and a U.S. patent. Prem was awarded the 2004 MIT-OMNOVA award for Excellence in Polymer Research for his thesis contribution. Prem holds a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly UDCT), Mumbai, a MS and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering Practice from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MBA from MIT Sloan.
