The Rome-based startup, Powahome, has developed a retrofit solution for home automation that can easily be inserted into existing switches and sockets to remotely control lights, sockets, and shutters. The system is programmable and retains memory and clock even after a black-out, and can be controlled using a customizable app. Powahome has won several awards and has been selected by Google Android Factory Program. The device can integrate vocal control system with existing house wiring, works with any switch model installed in common rectangular electrical boxes, and can control up to two switches. It works with all types of bulbs and does not replace the old switch but adds the functionality of remote control via smartphone or tablet.
