Schering AG, a multinational pharmaceutical company, was acquired by Bayer in 2006 and merged to form Bayer Schering Pharma AG. The subsidiary was later renamed Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals in 2011. As of 2004, Schering had 26,000 employees and was listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
