As the world's largest venture fund focused solely on discovering and developing novel therapies for dementia, the Dementia Discovery Fund has raised £250 million to develop disease-modifying therapeutics for all forms of dementia. With a mandate to validate novel hypotheses and expand the breadth of targets and mechanisms in development for dementia over the 15 year life of the fund, the DDF invests in early-stage projects starting from target identification, exploring novel biological insights for translation into disease-modifying drugs. Managed by SV Health Managers, DDF invests in and creates biotech companies pursuing transformational therapeutic approaches for dementias including Alzheimer’s disease, using its significant capital and domain expertise to enable talented entrepreneurs to bring therapeutics addressing one of the world’s largest unmet medical needs to the clinic. DDF is enabled by its networks and influential group of investors including leading pharmaceutical companies, AARP, Bill Gates, and the UK Government’s Department of Health and Social Care.
