The fund was launched with initial investments by alumnus Paul Manning and UMass Amherst, and has raised $5.8 million as of August 15, 2017, with additional investments accepted through September 30, 2017. The investments are selective, seeking promising opportunities with strong prospects for commercial success and generating commensurate returns for investors. The investment committee also looks to advisory committees of domain experts for input on particular investment opportunities.
