Richard Watson

Richard has been involved with Dublin BIC since 2009. He is actively involved in seed investment through the AIB Seed Capital Fund, as well as the provision of strategic, business planning and corporate finance advisory services to technology-based start-ups. Richard has invested in over 30 early stage technology companies and university spinouts – in Ireland through the AIB Seed Capital Fund and in the UK through NorthStar Ventures, where he worked between 2006 and 2009. Prior to this he worked in product development and business development with two medical device SMEs in Sweden, as well as in manufacturing and operations with the implementation and scale up of Fab 24, one of Intel’s main manufacturing facilities. Richard has a first class honours degree in Electronic Engineering from Trinity College Dublin and a first class MBA from Durham University. He also has a research M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Trinity College Dublin having conducted research into epilepsy and advanced EEG signal processing at the Neurology Department in Beaumont Hospital and the Department of Electronic Engineering in Trinity College Dublin.
