Mattia Bertschi received his MSc degree in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2001. The same year he started his work on biological tissues modeling in the Signal Processing Laboratory at EPFL. In 2005 he received his PhD and joined CSEM. During 5 years, he has had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the conception, execution, and management of research and development projects within the ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality systems. He is author and coauthor of several peer-reviewed publications and patents and his area of expertise in the biomedical field covers human kinetics and physiological parameters monitoring by means of non-invasive approaches. Since 2011, he is head of the Signal Processing section and manages a dozen of talented engineers in a multi-disciplinary high-tech environment. His current responsibilities covers the people management, resources planning, research strategy definition, business development, and project acquisition (industrial, CTI, ESA, FNSNF, EU). Skills and abilities: curious, enthusiastic, upbeat, creative, innovative, problem solving, team player, good written and verbal communicator, diplomatic, leadership, planning and organization, delegating, negotiating, effective listener.
