Cadence Biomedical's primary product, Kickstart, is a neurorehabilitation device designed to accelerate recovery to walking in patients with stroke, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and other progressive neurological conditions. It can be used in physical therapy during initial recovery and as a prescribed device for post-discharge use in the community and home settings. The company is also developing a new device called a kinetic orthosis, based on exotendon technology, which is expected to be released in early 2012. The orthosis provides stability and movement assistance to weakened muscles without the use of powered mechanisms, helping people with severe disabilities walk independently and improve their mobility.
