JMF was established in 1987 by Vicki and Fred Modell in memory of their son, Jeffrey, who passed away from complications related to PI. PIs are a group of over 450 genetic disorders that affect the immune system and can be chronic and fatal. JMF has created a network of global centers with over 900 physicians in 87 countries, funded innovative research, implemented newborn screening programs, and initiated a genetic sequencing project called Jeffrey's Insights. Their efforts have reached millions worldwide, promoting early diagnosis and improving quality of life for those affected by PI.
