MEDINA is an independent and innovative research entity that collaborates with academic and industrial partners worldwide to discover novel drug candidates, new biomarkers, and biotechnological products. They own one of the largest collections of microbial strains and diverse natural product libraries, which they use to deliver novel drug candidates for pharmaceutical development. Their team has unique expertise in natural products microbiology, chemistry, high throughput screening, and analytical chemistry for molecular structure elucidation and bioanalysis. They are currently active in drug and biomarker discovery programs for infectious diseases, cancer, CNS, and rare diseases, and are collaborating with clinical investigators for biomarker discovery and metabolomic profiling of patient samples. MEDINA is a research organization established in the Health Sciences Technology Park in Granada, Spain, as a private-public partnership between the Government of Andalucía, the University of Granada, and Merck Sharp and Dohme de España S.A.
