Biocompatibles is a UK-based biotherapeutics company developing products for the treatment of liver and HCC cancer. In 2011, it was acquired by BTG. Biocompatibles provides drug-eluting bead TACE and oncology products for the treatment of liver cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, liver metastases and tumors. The company's main product, LC Bead, works by blocking the arteries that supply blood to hypervascularized tumors, primarily liver cancer, thereby depriving them of nutrients. The company was sued in 2016 for faulty promotion activities, and paid a settlement of $36M.
