Founded in 1962 by an interfaith group of clergy in New York City, MIM works to curb the traffic in obscenity and uphold standards of decency in media. They use constitutional means to achieve their goals and have been successful in saving obscenity laws through their minority report that was cited by the Supreme Court. MIM directs the War on Illegal Pornography Coalition and collaborates with Congress to pressure the U.S. Department of Justice to enforce existing federal obscenity laws. They also maintain a research website and conduct national awareness campaigns to educate the public about the harms of pornography and provide resources for those struggling with its consequences.
