SSI, a company founded to commercialize technology developed at the University of Maine, is creating a device that will be sold to laboratory equipment manufacturers. This device, a component of mass spectrometers, is targeted at the biomedical, pharmaceutical, and environmental industries, where accurate identification of complex chemical mixtures is crucial. The project has received funding from the National Science Foundation and the Maine Technology Institute.
