Carlos Cobas
Carlos Cobas is Co-founder & President of Mestrelab Reseach. He was born in Santiago de Compostela in 1971, were he started programming in the early eighties. He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Santiago de Compostela. After spending a year at the University of Leicester (U.K.) under the supervision of Dr. Paul R. Jenkins, he returned to the University of Santiago, where he obtained a M.Sc. degree in 1995 and a Ph.D. in 2000. At the end of 2004, after 8 years working on the MestReC project, he took the decision to spin off from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela and launch Mestrelab Reseach. His research activities cover diverse applications of NMR spectroscopy, from signal processing and analysis algorithms to quantum simulation of NMR data, as well as methodology and applications of automatic structure verification systems by NMR and LC/GC/MS. He currently has a particular focus on the application of machine learning algorithms in the field of chemoinformatics. He spends his spare time riding his bike and banging on drums.

Santi is CEO and cofounder of Mestrelab Research SL. He also cofounded and is a director of IMSPEX Diagnostics Ltd. and is a board member of eMolecules Inc. Santi grew up in Santiago de Compostela, and graduated in Business Studies at Santiago de Compostela University in 1995. He started his professional career in 1995 at NCH Corporation, a specialty chemicals multinational company where he held Sales, Sales Management and General Management positions. After 10 years, he left NCH to cofound Mestrelab, where he has responsibilities in many areas of the business, including Sales, Business Development and R&D. Through his activity at Mestrelab and his other roles, Santi has developed extensive skills in analytical chemistry, general management, international commerce, software R&D project management, e-commerce, M&A and hardware development and manufacturing. His interest outside work include fiction and economics writing and a number of sports, including skiing, athletics and a particular passion for cycling and rugby.

Javier Sardina
Javier Sardina is a co-founder and Director of the Scientific Advisory Board of MESTRELAB RESEARCH. He was born in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in 1958. He was trained as a synthetic organic chemist at the University of Santiago de Compostela, where he received both his B.S. (1980) and Ph.D. (1985) degrees. From 1986 to 1988 he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, working in the laboratory of the late Prof. Henry Rapoport. Currently, he is a Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Santiago and his research interests range from green organic synthesis to the development of scientific computer software.
