Mike Olson

Mike Olson is a serial entrepreneur with a background in computer science and mathematics. He has previously founded 9 companies, which have cumulatively raised over $30 million from top firms like Sequoia and Benchmark. Mike is an expert in machine learning and artificial intelligence, and he has focused his career on complex decision-making, automation, and optimization problems. With over 15 years of professional experience programming and leading small research teams, Mike is adept at inventing new and innovative technical solutions to challenging business problems. At Corvigo, Mike led a small research team to develop patented artificial intelligence algorithms for filtering spam. Corvigo was subsequently acquired by Tumbleweed Communications, a publicly traded company which was also later acquired by Axway. For Volt Capital, Mike built a low-cost supercomputer from commodity hardware, and wrote the software stack for clustered analysis, backtesting, and prediction of the stock market using genetic expression programming. As a founder at the still-operating Scale Computing, Mike created the first version of their clustered storage and virtualization solution for the SMB market. He then moved into operations, managing corporate IT, performing business analytics, and automating as many processes as possible. Mike enjoys his time at home, keeping up with politics and current events, watching movies, and playing video games.
