Heather Preston is currently employed as a partner and managing director of TPG Biotech, a biotechnology venture capital firm. Heather Preston joined TPG in 2005. She currently serves on the board of directors of Alder Biopharmaceuticals, Inc., a public company and on the boards of a number of private companies. Prior to joining TPG Biotech, Heather Preston served for two years as a medical device and biotechnology venture capital investor at JP Morgan Partners, LLC, a private equity firm. Prior to that, she was an entrepreneur-in-residence at New Enterprise Associates, a venture capital firm. From 1997 to 2002, Heather Preston served as a leader of the pharmaceutical and medical products consulting practice at McKinsey & Co. in New York. Heather Preston holds a medical degree from the University of Oxford and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of London. After leaving Oxford, Heather Preston completed a post-doctoral fellowship in molecular biology at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard University. Heather Preston completed her training in internal medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and then subspecialized in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of California, San Francisco. During Heather Preston’s academic career, she was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship, a Fulbright Cancer Research Scholarship, a Harlech Scholarship and a Science and Engineering Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellowship Award.
