COREx uses a patented thermochemical conversion technology to transform CO2 emissions from natural gas plants into methanol, biochar, and activated carbon. This process is more profitable than the standard method of producing carbon-positive methanol. The company's goal is to reverse global warming and improve topsoil productivity. COREx is a semi-finalist in the $20M Carbon Xprize Contest, competing with 23 other teams worldwide. The co-founders, Wilson Hago and Alicia Bosch, have extensive experience in the biofuels and biochar industry, and the team members are graduates of the Global Solutions Program at Singularity University.
