Pitou is responsible for deal screening, conducting due diligence on prospective acquisition opportunities and supporting Safeguard’s healthcare partner companies. He is a MBA graduate of The Wharton School and a board-certified physician practicing in the Penn health system. Pitou was a summer associate at Medtronic in their Neuromodulation business prior to starting his second year at Wharton. During his residency training, he also completed internships in technology transfer at Penn’s CTT office and healthcare venture capital at Safeguard Scientifics. In 2009, he was part of the grand prize winning team, NIR Diagnostics, in the Wharton Business Plan Competition and served as CMO. Prior to his medical training and residency, he founded and directed the first online student portal website called the Student Information Network, which became Sinapse Consulting with branch offices in the Midwest and Washington, DC. Pitou holds a B.A. in biological psychology from the College of William & Mary, an M.D. with honors from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Eric Stone
Eric M. Stone is the Chief Executive Officer at Velano Vascular. A patient advocate and serial healthcare entrepreneur, Stone is a former National Trustee of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. Prior to Velano, he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Molecular Health, and earlier in his career launched a series of pioneering interventional cardiology devices for Abbott while based in Brussels, Belgium and California. Stone was a founding member of Model N's (NYSE: MODN) Life Sciences division, where he led marketing and business development.
