Founded in 1984, Sigma Partners has invested in over a hundred early stage companies and manages over $2 billion. In 2007, it raised $500 million for its most recent fund, Sigma Partners 8. The firm preferred to invest in companies based in Canada and the United States, operating in the semiconductors, mobile computing, electronics, infrastructure, internet and software sectors. Sigma Partners was split into two smaller investment firms: Sigma West, now known as Jackson Square Ventures and Sigma Prime Ventures.
