The company, supported by Michelin Development Company and the Ontario Centres of Excellence, has successfully commercialized a breakthrough manufacturing process developed at the University of Waterloo. This technology converts scrap rubber into a polymer, known as Tire-derived polymer (TDP), which can be reused in tire manufacturing at a rate exceeding 20%. Unlike other processes that rely on chemicals, Tyromer's solution offers a more sustainable and cost-effective way to recover valuable synthetic rubber from scrap tires. The company aims to transform worldwide scrap tire management and contribute to the circular economy by offering TDP at a discounted price compared to virgin rubber and tire compound.
