Founded in 2011 by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's KEO digital team, peoplefund.it has already raised £40k in just six days for a Bicycle Academy and many other projects. The platform has been backed by NESTA's Innovation In Giving fund and has links with various organizations such as Forum for the Future, Landshare, energyshare, River Cottage, and Fish Fight. In 2012, WeDidThis merged with peoplefund.it to become its Arts channel. The platform has gained support from public figures such as Stephen Fry, Martha Lane Fox, Lynne Featherstone, and Zac Goldsmith. Crowdfunder, which acquired peoplefund.it in 2018, has raised over £200m for start-ups, charities, community groups, sports clubs, and political movements through crowdfunding.
