Formerly known as Williams & Griffin, Fenwick Colchester is an independently owned department store that has been a mainstay on Colchester's High Street for many years. In 2007, it was recognized as the "Best Independent Department Store of the Year." The store is currently undergoing a £30+ million redevelopment project, which will expand its floor space by 50% and offer a brighter and more spacious shopping environment. The new store will feature a wider range of brands and a new Carluccio's restaurant. The redevelopment will also preserve the existing Victorian and Tudor buildings on the High Street. Fenwick Colchester is expected to complete the project in autumn 2016.
