Founded in 1996 in Germany, Global Life Science Ventures primarily invested in medical device and biopharmaceutical startups, many of which were spun out of universities and scientific institutions. While the firm had offices in Germany and Switzerland, it initially sought investments in the United States life sciences market. It raised a second fund in 2002 to expand its investments in Europe. The firm closed in 2015 after liquidating its assets.
