With over 700,000 patients annually, UW Health operates seven hospitals, more than 80 clinic locations, and employs 1,849 physicians and 21,000 staff members. It is governed by the UW Hospitals and Clinics Authority and partners with the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. In 2015, UW Health expanded its reach by incorporating SwedishAmerican, a community health system in Illinois, and in 2021, the UW Health brand was introduced at SwedishAmerican's hospitals and clinics. Additionally, UW Health includes Unity Health Insurance Corporation, which has 175,000 members, and University Health Care, a not-for-profit corporation facilitating relationships with insurance companies and regional providers.
