Description
Nynex was established in 1984 as a result of the regulatory breakup of AT&T's monopoly. It was formed by merging two former AT&T subsidiaries, New York Telephone and New England Telephone. The company merged with Bell Atlantic in 1997 and was headquartered in New York City.
