David F. Lincoln
David has been an active investor in venture capital for over 18 years and has over 23 years of experience investing in energy and technology companies. David’s areas of investment focus include renewable and alternative energy technologies, energy storage, advanced materials, resource optimization, and the upstream energy sector. Prior to forming Element, David was a co-founder and Managing Director of EnerTech Capital Partners, an energy technology venture firm formed in 1996. Under his leadership, EnerTech successfully managed over $290 million in two funds specifically focused on energy, communications, and clean technologies. David also founded and served as President and CEO of Deven Resources, Inc., a private equity firm dedicated to the acquisition and development of energy properties. From 1984 to 1991, David was a partner with CMS Companies, a Philadelphia-based private equity and financial services firm. David began his career at UGI Corporation, a diversified energy and utility holding company. David holds a BA with honors in Geology from Colgate University; and an MS in Energy Management and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania.

Raj Atluru
Raj has been investing in information technology and the energy and resource sectors for 21 years. His primary areas of interest are software, security, storage, energy efficiency, transportation technologies and novel financing models for deploying distributed energy infrastructure technologies. Prior to Activate, Raj was a co-founder of Silver Lake Kraftwerk, a growth equity fund focused on late stage private companies across the energy and resource sectors. From 2000 until 2011, Raj lead the cleantech practice at Draper Fisher Jurvetson, one of the premier early stage venture funds in Silicon Valley. DFJ was an early investor in notable companies including Tesla Motors, Solar City, EnerNOC, Brightsource Energy and Sea Micro. From 1996 to 2000, Raj worked on energy and technology investing for TL Ventures. Raj has served on several private and public boards, and co-founded DFJ Element with David Lincoln in 2005 – at the time, the largest fund ever raised for the cleantech sector. Raj is a frequent speaker on innovation in the energy and resource markets, and has keynoted numerous conferences dedicated to sustainability and innovation. Raj has both a BS and MS in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University as well as an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Anup Jacob
Anup has been investing over 20 years in energy, water and industrial technology businesses. He has served on multiple private and public company boards and chaired audit and compensation committees. Prior to co-founding Activate, Anup was a founder and partner at several private equity firms including Mubadala Capital, an Abu Dhabi sovereign investor managing $243B of assets. Prior to Mubadala, Anup was a Managing Partner at Masdar, a subsidiary of Mubadala focused on sustainable investments advancing renewable energy globally. From 2007 to 2013, Anup was a Co-Founder and Partner at Virgin Green Fund, a growth equity firm investing in the renewable energy and resource efficiency sectors. From 1999 to 2007 Anup was a Partner at Aqua-TPG where he focused on investments in the water sector. Throughout his career, Anup has served on several company boards including Stem (STEM), Volta (VLTA) and current investments Boosted, Passport Labs (Observer) and Posigen (Observer). He has served at a national judge for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, the Financial Times/Just Means Social Innovations Awards, Zayed Future Energy Prize, the MIT Clean Energy Prize and has been a keynote speaker at several conferences including the Norwegian Govt Enova Initiative, California’s BlueTech Valley and for MBA students at Yale SOM & MIT. Anup holds a degree in Economics, with honors, from the University of Chicago and is also on the non-profit board of Grid Alternatives, which aims to bring renewable energy to low-income homeowners.
