Gilbert Wong
Gilbert Wong is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bull Capital Partners. He is a member of the Investment Committee for Peregrine Fund and Fund II and is responsible for formation of Bull Capital Partners' overall strategy. Furthermore, he has been actively involved in the sourcing of investment opportunities through his extensive corporate network in the Greater China Region. Mr. Wong has 36 years of experience in fund management, securities broking and corporate finance, involving securities origination, underwriting and placing of equities and equity-linked products, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and re-organizations, and other general corporate advisory activities. Prior to forming Bull Capital Partners, Mr. Wong was the Head of Investment Banking - Asia of BNP Paribas Capital (Asia Pacific) Limited, having initially joined Peregrine Securities Limited in 1992 to help develop its institutional business. In 1996, Mr. Wong was promoted to Managing Director, primarily responsible for Hong Kong and mainland Chinese products. In 1998 he was named the Co-head of Securities for BNP Paribas Peregrine globally and in 1999, he became the Head of Equity Capital Markets. In 2002, Mr. Wong assumed the role of Head of Investment Banking - Asia. During his 15 years with Peregrine Securities/BNP Paribas Mr. Wong led or participated in over 200 IPO and secondary market offerings of Hong Kong and mainland Chinese companies, with an aggregate size of US $23billion, including landmark transactions in the consumption sector such as Hengan, Mengniu, Lifestyle, Lianhua Supermarket, and Jin Jiang Hotels, as well as transactions in the manufacturing sector including BYD, Great Wall Auto, Nine Dragons, Shenzhou, Haitian and Sunny Optics. During his last four years at BNP Paribas, he helped raised $6 billion for companies in the Greater China Region. Under Mr. Wong' s management, from 2003 to 2006, BNP Paribas Capital (Asia Pacific) Limited was named by IFR Asia, FinanceAsia and The Asset as the best Mid-Cap Equity House in Asia. From 2002 to 2006, five deals sponsored by BNP Paribas Capital (Asia Pacific) Limited were named the Asian Mid Cap Equity Deal of the Year by FinanceAsia and The Asset. From 1991 to 1992, Mr. Wong was with Wardley Investment Services Limited managing pension funds and charitable trusts. From 1985 to 1990, he was with Bank America Trust Co. (HK) Limited mainly responsible for managing Japanese equities and Asian Stocks. Between 1983 and 1985, he was with Samuel Mortagu & Co., Ltd. mainly focusing on corporate finance. Mr. Wong worked for Nomura International (HK) Limited from 1982 to 1983 focusing on servicing high net worth individuals in the Japanese market. Mr. Wong is an independent non-executive director of several Hong Kong-listed companies - Ref Holdings Limited and West China Cement Limited, and has previously been a non-executive director of Sun King Power Electronics Group Limited, a portfolio company of the Peregrine Fund. Mr. Wong received a Bachelor Degree of Social Sciences in economics and management from the University of Hong Kong.
