Karim El Malki
Karim is responsible for Athonet’s product strategy, bringing more than 20 years of experience from both academia and industry. He has been selected by WIRED magazine and Nokia as one of the 17 leading global influencers based on innovation, impact, and relevance to critical global issues in areas including artificial intelligence, privacy, security, human connection, and health. He was previously University Researcher and then Lecturer in Mobile Communications at the University of Sheffield (U.K.). Karim’s work in the IP wireless space was a first input to standardisation that resulted in several standards. He subsequently joined Ericsson in Stockholm where he held senior roles in the Research, Systems and Global Services organizations. He has authored several mobile and IP standards, patents, conference talks and publications and has been an Expert Evaluator for the European Community funded projects. Karim holds a Ph.D. in Telecoms from the University of Sheffield (U.K.) and a B.Eng. (Hon.s) from Brunel University (U.K.).
