Nick Dougherty

Nick is the Managing Director for MassChallenge HealthTech, a digital health​ accelerator program in Boston Massachusetts that addresses healthcare challenges through demonstration projects led by startups, governments, universities, and preeminent healthcare organizations and institutions. MassChallenge HealthTech generated over 270 partnerships in its first three years, impacting millions of patient lives and helping entrepreneurs generate millions in revenue and funding.​Prior to MCHT, he was at VerbalCare, a 2013 MassChallenge Finalist, where he designed patient-centered communication platforms for providers and both verbal and nonverbal patients to improve shared decision making, healthcare management, and patient engagement. Nick served as Co-Founder and CEO before being named General Manager in 2015 after VerbalCare was acquired by Medical Specialties Distributors.​In addition to MassChallenge, Nick also serves as the co-chair of Together.Health, an organization focused on driving ecosystem-to-ecosystem collaboration to accelerate the adoption of innovative health solutions. He also guest lectures at Boston University on topics including healthcare and entrepreneurship.​Nick is a graduate of Boston University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in computer systems engineering and is professionally certified in 3D animation and graphic design. He also recorded a full-length album (available on iTunes and Spotify under the band name "Aquell").
