Horisont Energi is an independent energy company based in Norway that is focused on developing blue hydrogen, blue ammonia, and carbon storage solutions to provide clean energy and carbon transport and storage services. The company uses proprietary technology to transform gas, water, and renewable energy into cost-leading clean ammonia and hydrogen, and offers CO2 transportation and storage services. One of its major projects is the Barents Blue project, which aims to provide Europe's first large-scale clean ammonia production using natural gas from the Barents Sea. The project includes a world-scale clean ammonia plant located in Finnmark, Northern Norway, with a production capacity of 3000 tons of ammonia per day. Carbon produced during the production process will be captured and transported by ship to the Polaris reservoir for storage, with an estimated capacity of over 100 million tons below the seabed offshore Finnmark. An investment decision for the Polaris and Barents Blue project is expected towards the end of 2022.
