Ray Blight

Ray is the co-founder and Chief Executive of Alcidion Corporation. He brings a wealth of public and private sector healthcare experience and knowledge to Alcidion including the role of the Chief Executive and Chairman of the South Australian Health Commission from 1994 – 1998 and Chair of the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council. Ray’s budget responsibility during his tenure as CEO Health Commission was US$1 billion per annum. Ray has taken a key leadership role in Commonwealth and State Government initiatives including hospital service rationalisations, major funding reforms for healthcare services, origination of co-ordinated care in Australia and integrated service delivery in the Australian context. Ray brings a rare combination of creative and innovative thinking to Alcidion along with pragmatism and problem solving health management skills and expertise. Ray is passionate about the opportunities for health informatics technology to transform safety, quality and timeliness of health care service delivery and is committed to Alcidion delivering intelligent software system innovations that work effectively and efficiently and benefit all levels of health care service from patients through to providers and budget holders. Ray’s qualifications include the awards of Bachelor of Technology (Electronics), Bachelor of Economics and Masters of Business Management from the University of Adelaide. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Ray’s private health experience includes working as a consultant to the World Bank and as Executive Vice President (Health) for Bankers Trust, the latter providing advisory services in public asset privatisation, private sector provision of public health services, mergers and acquisitions, financing of health technology initiatives and strategic advice about structuring of health services.
