The firm is supported by the Government of Canada and brings together over 150 researchers from 34 post-secondary institutions, as well as industry and academic partners, to study the many roles of carbohydrates in biological processes. GlycoNet focuses on 5 research themes: antimicrobials, rare genetic diseases, diabetes and obesity, chronic disease, and therapeutic proteins and vaccines. The network aims to become a global destination for researchers and industry seeking solutions to problems through applied glycomics research, with the potential to lead to the development of new drugs and vaccines for conditions such as influenza, genetic diseases, or diabetes.
