Founded in 2014, Alcazar Energy invests in and develops utility scale renewable energy projects in emerging markets. Their first investment vehicle, Alcazar Energy Partners One (AEP-1), created the largest privately-owned portfolio of renewable energy assets in the MENA region by 2018. This portfolio included solar and wind projects in Jordan and Egypt, generating 411 MW of operational capacity. Alcazar Energy's projects created over 4,200 jobs, powered 275,000 households, and saved over 445,000 tons of CO2 and 795,000 m3 of water annually. They also allocated $15m to social investment in education and sustainable small businesses. In August 2021, Alcazar Energy completed the successful exit of AEP-1 through an auction won by China Three Gorges. Alcazar Energy is now launching a new fund, AEP-II, and focuses on renewable energy generation in the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa.
