Robert W. Pangia
Robert W. Pangia, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Ivy Sports Medicine, brings more than 30 years of experience in management, healthcare, investment banking and private equity. In addition to his responsibilities at ISM, Mr. Pangia is also a Founder and Principal of Ivy Healthcare Capital II and serves as a Director of Biogen Idec Corporation (NASDAQ:BIIB). In 2003, Mr. Pangia co-founded Ivy Capital Partners, an orthopedic-focused private equity firm, which has made 21 investments over two funds. From 1987 to 1996, Mr. Pangia worked at PaineWebber Incorporated, where he served as Executive Vice President and head of that firm's global investment banking business. Mr. Pangia also held a number of senior management positions at that firm including: member of the board of directors, Chairman of the board of directors of PaineWebber Properties Inc., member of PaineWebber's executive and operating committees, Chairman of the equity commitment committee, and member of the debt commitment committee. Prior to his positions at PaineWebber, Mr. Pangia held other senior positions, including Managing Director of Investment Banking for Drexel Burnham Lambert of New York and Vice President of Investment Banking for Kidder, Peabody & Co. of New York. Mr. Pangia has also served as a director of Gentis Inc., an Ivy portfolio company, McAfee Inc. (NYSE: MFE) until its acquisition by Intel (NASDAQ: INTL), ICOS Corporation until its acquisition by Eli Lilly Corporation, Athena Neurosciences, and Ryan, Beck Corporation. Mr. Pangia received an A.B. in Economics from Brown University in 1973 and an M.B.A. with distinction from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business in 1977.
