Description

The Pittsburgh-based company, founded in 2018 by a team of experts in autonomous vehicles, robotics, and AI, provides a trucking technology platform that combines autonomy and driver augmentation through its Autonomous Relay Convoy (ARC) system. The ARC system employs relay convoying, a human-guided autonomous system in which one truck autonomously follows a lead truck driven by a human, allowing trucking companies to operate efficiently at reduced costs. With the demand for freight trucking services expected to grow 36% between 2020 and 2031, Locomation aims to solve the persistent driver shortages that create capacity constraints for carriers and hinder the trucking industry.

Trevor Zimmerman

Trevor Zimmerman

Trevor Zimmerman is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Blackhorn Ventures. Previously, he co-founded Farmore Capital Group (FCG), a private investment firm. While there, he led the firm’s day-to-day activities and spent much of his time working directly with entrepreneurs to build successful companies. In addition to angel investing and venture capital, Trevor’s professional experience ranges from developing materials for biomedical implants to designing high-performance batteries for the U.S. Navy to developing systems to hinder the migration of radionuclides in groundwater at the Y-12 National Security Complex. Before co-founding FCG, Trevor was the principal engineer in the Technology Development Division of a venture-backed startup company, Kurion, Inc. Here he was responsible for the development and maturation of technological solutions that support clean energy through waste separation and stabilization, primarily for radioactive wastewater treatment efforts at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Trevor serves on a number of for-profit and nonprofit boards. He has lectured and published in the areas of venture capital, entrepreneurship, advanced materials, environmental engineering, and radiochemistry, and holds patents for making carbon nanopipes and ductwork with nanomeric walls and separating radionuclides with submersible filters. He is focused on using his diverse technical and entrepreneurial background to solve humanity’s biggest challenges. Trevor frequently serves as an instructor, mentor, and judge for a variety of institutions including the Department of Energy, Stanford University, and MIT. He completed a postgraduate research appointment at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and holds a M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Clemson University and a B.A. in Chemistry from Alfred University.
