The Oakland-based non-profit foundation was established in 1997 to make the tech industry more diverse and inclusive, particularly for underrepresented communities. It conducts research, provides education and community building, and invests in Black, Latinx, and women entrepreneurs to challenge the unfair system that stagnates innovation. The Kapor Center takes a comprehensive approach to closing the gaps in the leaky tech pipeline by understanding the causes, designing solutions, and leading change. The foundation aims to build a future where the tech industry makes a positive impact on culture, society, and the economy.
