The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a public benefit corporation established in 1975. Initially focused on research and development to reduce petroleum consumption, NYSERDA has since expanded its efforts to include environmental impact studies, renewable resource development, and innovative technology advancements. By promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources, NYSERDA aims to create a cleaner, more reliable, and affordable energy system for all New Yorkers. Through collaborations with various stakeholders, including residents, businesses, government officials, researchers, and investors, NYSERDA works towards attracting private sector capital, overcoming clean energy barriers, and ensuring communities and individuals benefit from energy efficiency and renewable energy. Governed by a 13-member Board, NYSERDA has been providing objective information, technical expertise, and support to New York State for over four decades, with a vision to lead in global climate action and deliver equitable benefits to all New Yorkers.
