Description

Founded by world-leading entrepreneurship scholars, The GEDI Institute is a Washington, DC-based research organization and consulting firm committed to expanding economic opportunities around the world. Their main contribution is the GEI index, which measures the quality and dynamics of entrepreneurship ecosystems at a national, regional and local level. The index methodology has been validated in rigorous academic peer reviews, endorsed by the European Commission, and used to inform the allocation of EU Structural and Cohesion Funds. The theoretical approach of The GEDI Institute has influenced entrepreneurship policy thinking in trans-national organisations such as United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. The Index yielded three major findings, including the identification of the 34 essential institutional and individual elements that make up every country's economic growth system, the keys to unlocking a country's economic potential, and the individual societal weaknesses and bottlenecks to market growth in each of 120 countries, which is crucial for guiding S-CSR.
