Inter-Tel provided unified communication solutions and services to the SME customers. Its solutions include voice and data communications systems (IP phones, PBX etc), networking applications, and presence management, collaboration, and messaging applications, and managed services (local and long distance calling services, networking, maintenance, leasing and support). In 2007, Vector Capital placed a bid to buyout Inter-tel for $26.5 per share but the company was finally merged with Mitel for $25.6 per share to strengthen its position in the Unified Communications market. Steven Mihaylo is the founder of the company. The Japenese business of the company was sold to Inter-Tel Japan and it operates as a separate independent company.
