Andrew Rose

Over the last 10 years Andrew Rose has worked with a number of insurance companies including Progressive, Countrywide, and Elephant Insurance in several high-profile capacities. His experience in the industry gives him unique insight as the head of compare.com—an auto insurance comparison engine designed to bring real auto insurance comparison to the U.S. A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) and the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia (UVA), Andrew Rose saw compare.com as a chance to help the average American find a great price for auto insurance, as well as great coverage. To date, there still isn’t a company in the U.S. that works directly with auto insurance companies to deliver direct quotes for car insurance that also presents them side by side in the manner compare.com does. It was the Admiral Group, plc that introduced him to the concept. While working for the Admiral Group, Andrew Rose saw firsthand how well auto insurance comparison worked. The Admiral Group operates Confused.com, an auto insurance comparison website based in the U.K. and founded in 2001. While working for the Admiral Group, Andrew had the opportunity to learn about Confused.com, how they operated, and how they worked with the auto insurance companies to provide quotes to consumers. This education would propel the creation and launch of Compare.com. Of course, Andrew Rose is more than his job. He’s a happily married family man, Ironman triathlete, and avid marathoner. He’s completed the Boston Marathon three times as well as five full and ten half Ironman triathlons and more than a dozen other marathons. He’s even qualified for the 2014 70.3 World Championships. Andrew has also been an active member of FIRST Lego League (FLL). FLL is a robotics competition for elementary and middle school students which makes use of the Lego Mindstorms system. Andrew has served on the State Board for the competition, ran the state and regional tournament, and emceed the State Championships. The competition has been named the largest robotics competition in the world several times, with over 100 teams competing.
