Dr. Irving Weinberg is the President of Weinberg Medical Physics LLC (WMP) and the inventor of their platform MRI technology. Since 2008, he has spun off four companies in the fields of medical imaging and image-guided therapy, working with investigators at University of Maryland, Children’s National Medical Center, Georgetown University, Wayne State University, UC Irvine, and the University of Valencia. Irving continues to see patients as a radiological consultant. Prior to WMP, he was the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Naviscan PET Systems, Inc. (formerly, PEM Technologies), a company that built the first PET scanner dedicated to breast imaging. Over his career, he has developed and commercialized FDA-approved medical products used by one million Americans. Irving received a PhD in experimental plasma physics at UC Irvine, and eventually decided to cross over to the clinical field where he took his medical degree at University of Miami. He completed a radiology and nuclear medicine residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and subsequently his fellowship in the Imaging Oncology program run jointly by Johns Hopkins and the U.S. National Institutes of Health.
