Description

CartiHeal is a privately held medical device company headquartered in Israel that has developed a cell-free, off-the-shelf implant called Agili-C™ for the treatment of cartilage and osteochondral defects in traumatic and osteoarthritic joints. The implant has been implanted in over 400 patients with cartilage lesions in the knee, ankle, and great toe in a series of trials conducted in leading centers in Europe and Israel. The implant has shown to promote regeneration of true hyaline cartilage and its subchondral bone simultaneously without the use of cells, growth factors, or other exogenous agents. The technology enables simultaneous bone and hyaline cartilage regeneration in a single-step procedure, providing superior results and fast rehabilitation. While the Agili-C implant is CE marked for use in cartilage and osteochondral defects, in the United States, it is not available for sale and is limited for use in the IDE study.
