Tim Webster

Tim Webster, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of The Exchange Lab, set up the Exchange Lab in 2007 in order to advance the efficiencies and opportunities for exchange-traded media within the Digital advertising ecosystem, and architected The Exchange Lab’s industry-leading multi-platform approach after identifying shortcomings in one-stack methodologies. Tim started his Digital career in 1999 as part of the UK launch team for Ask Jeeves, where he headed up commercial operations. He joined TechnologyBrokers in 2002 where he helped launch Atlas DMT into Europe. He soon assumed the role of Operations Director for both TechnologyBrokers and its sister company MediaBrokers, the UK based Ad Network. Both businesses were later acquired by aQuantive in 2006. Tim then assumed the role of MD for Accelerator Media, the Performance Network division of the Media Initiatives Group, who at that time were the largest users of the Right Media Exchange in the UK.

James Aitken

James Aitken, is Founder and CEO of The Exchange Lab. In every media endeavour that he undertakes, James anticipates market needs and gathers teams around him that build vibrant, best-of-breed business that have a deep understanding of both marketing and technology at their core. As a result, James has been at the forefront of some of the most significant developments in Digital advertising that have occurred over the past 15 years, including being an important player in the start-up and 1999 IPO of Seattle-based Avenue A Media, inventors of the 1x1 pixel, whose attribution model is still in use today. James followed this up with the 2001 launch of MediaBrokers, the UK’s first blind Ad Network. Sister company TechnologyBrokers had the exclusive European license for what became the top buy-side ad serving and tracking technology, Atlas DMT. Together, both companies pioneered the Programmatic style of audience buying, that we know today and they, along with Atlas, were ultimately acquired by Microsoft in 2007 (with Atlas subsequently being acquired by Facebook in 2013). James has also been an active Angel investor in other successful start-up Digital media businesses including: The Digital Tribe Agency, The Trade Desk, appssavvy, Adconion and Gradient X.
