Description

Impact America Fund invests in early-stage entrepreneurs who use technology to create shared value for their consumers, workers, suppliers, investors, and other key stakeholders. They focus on underserved communities and sectors that are traditionally overlooked and undervalued, and back mission-driven founders whose lived experiences fortify their business prowess. The fund advises startups on how to imbue impact into the design and development of the technologies that power their businesses, and is building an ecosystem of entrepreneurs, funders, institutions, philanthropists, academics, technologists, and community organizers to grow and support their portfolio companies and compound their collective impact. Kesha Cash co-launched Jalia Ventures in 2010 with the support of Josh Mailman and Serious Change, LP. Her responsibilities include sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, negotiating deal terms, and providing business support to portfolio companies. Kesha is a Red Rabbit advisory board member and has been instrumental in helping the company grow from less than $1 million of revenue in 2010 with 13 employees to over $7 million of revenue in 2013 with 130 employees. Prior to Jalia Ventures, Kesha spent three years as a mergers and acquisitions analyst at Merrill Lynch and then six years as a consultant to inner-city businesses in Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. She worked with founders to raise seed capital, develop growth plans, and implement operational processes and procedures. In the summer of 2009, Kesha worked in London at Bridges Ventures, a leading $475 million UK private investment firm that delivers both financial and social returns. While at Bridges Ventures, she evaluated investment opportunities in social housing, microfinance and business services, and assisted the deal team with writing approval and investment memorandums. From 2009 – 2013, Kesha served on the Columbia Advisory Committee for Social Responsible Investing and advised the University Trustees on ethical and social issues that arise in the management of the investments in the University’s endowment. Kesha is a member of the Social Venture Network and supports a number of non-profit organizations including Sponsors for Educational Opportunity and Green City Force. She received her BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley and her MBA from Columbia Business School.
