As a Managing Director and Co-Founder of General Catalyst Partners, David invests in both new and existing technology businesses. David's areas of special interest include application software; infrastructure software; open source; IP TV services; as well as software on-demand business models. Before co-founding General Catalyst, David most recently led Allaire Corporation from 1997 to 2000 as President, Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Directors. During his tenure, Allaire grew from a venture-backed start up to a $119M public corporation trading on the NASDAQ. The company pioneered the internet Application Server market with industry leading products such as ColdFusion and JRUN. In January of 2001, Allaire merged with MacroMedia Corporation and continues to be a leading Internet software company. Prior to his Chief Executive Officer role at Allaire, David held the positions of Senior Vice President of Sales Operations and Marketing at Frame Technology Corporation, Claris Corporation and SQA Corporation. Frame Technology and SQA Corporation were venture-backed corporations that successfully completed Initial Public Offerings on the NASDAQ. David is a Graduate of Norwich University, earning a B.A. in Business and Accounting. David represents General Catalyst on the following boards: Abine, Brightcove (NASDAQ: BCOV), ezprints, Imprivata, OnForce, Ping Identity, rPath, and Tremor Video (FKA: ScanScout). Joel Cutler is the Co-Founder and Managing Director at General Catalyst Partners. Prior to co-founding General Catalyst Partners, Joel (together with David Fialkow) co-founded and operated numerous businesses focused on leveraging technology and high standards of customer care for the travel, information services, specialty retail, consumer direct marketing, and payment processing industries. These businesses included: National Leisure Group, one of the largest leisure travel technology and distribution companies in the U.S.; Retail Growth ATM Systems (sold to PNC Bank), a national ATM and interactive network provider; and Starboard Cruise Services (sold to LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Inc.), the operator of more than 300 duty-free retail stores on 100 cruise ships and owner of the Miami and Ft.
