Marcel Boekhoorn
Marcel Boekoorn owns and leads Ramphastos Investments, a venture capital and private equity investment firm, where he specializes in sourcing and assessment, deal-making and strategy. Together with his ten-partner team, he actively supports portfolio companies by assisting them in the definition of their strategies and helping them achieve their business objectives and drive long-term value. Marcel started his career in 1981 at Deloitte & Touche, where he served as its youngest partner ever in the Netherlands as a chartered accountant in 1991. He founded Ramphastos Investments in 1994. Marcel Boekhoorn led several companies - mainly operating in niche markets - into growth, expansion and market leadership by pursuing a buy-and-build strategy, attracting new customers and business partners and the strongest management teams. He actively supports portfolio companies by assisting in defining strategies and remaining actively involved in their execution. Mr. Boekhoorn has many times successfully sold companies that he owned, realizing IRRs of three digits or more. Examples of successful exits include Bakker Bart (chain of Bakery stores in the Netherlands, sold to Kamps AG), Cocachoc (sold to Suchard/Kraft Foods), Novaxess (telecom provider, sold to the BSkyB Group), Telfort (mobile network operator, sold to Royal KPN), Motip Dupli (spray paints for the automotive and DIY markets, sold to Intermediate Capital Group), Sim Industries (flight simulators for civil aviation, sold to Lockheed Martin), Suitsupply (men's fashion, sold to founder and majority shareholder Fokke de Jong) and Campus Diemen-Zuid (upscale, full-service student housing to Greystar).
